Simone Schuffelen is creating a new, site-specific work especially for MURF/MURW – an installation and performance at the Hall of Fame plaza featuring audience participation and music by Siem de Boer.
Her work is explosive, playful, and deeply rooted in improvisation and audience collaboration. Think of performance art as a living organism, emerging from the moment, a character, and the space in between.
Schuffelen challenges the obvious. Inspired by the Maastricht carnival – where roles blur and everything seems possible – she creates situations in which the boundaries between reality, character, and audience blur. For MURF/MURW, she is utilizing a location never before used for performance, and she is exploring the theme of Pangea in her own inimitable way.
