On Saturday, Flavia Pinheiro (BR/NL) takes the stage at Theater de Nieuwe Vorst with The Unborn – a solo dance work previously presented at Holland Festival 2024, where spirits defy gravity, somersault through darkness, and hover in stillness. On Sunday, she returns with Mimosa, a lighter performance in which her research takes on a new form.
The Unborn moves between ritual and choreography, inviting reflection on both the fragility and resilience of life. Flavia creates an atmosphere where it feels as if the body can hear spirits, communicate with them, and even see with closed eyes. A kind of clairvoyant dance – at once intimate and magical.
What struck the MURF/MURW programmer most is Flavia’s powerful visual language and atmosphere. She transcends pure dance, crafting theatrical and shadowy images that evoke something just out of reach. Experiencing this piece feels like being slowly drawn into a tunnel – mysterious, intense, and tender all at once.
