In Fang Mij's paintings, oil paint, textiles, and language come together as a colorful collaborative entity. The abstract forms resemble ghostly entities, calling for a slower way of life. The infinite dots in her paintings are akin to the repetitive, meditative nature of rituals. Embroidery and weaving techniques symbolically integrate qualities such as deceleration, comfort, and nurturing into the oil paintings. For Fang, painting and writing are simultaneous processes. Language now occupies a visible place on the canvas, creating a new image with room for lightness and humor.
